Daniel Ntege

Kampala, UgandaSoftware Engineer

I build the systems that keep records honest.

Backend and platform engineer working on distributed-ledger infrastructure, agricultural intelligence and public-interest software from Kampala. Most of what I build ends up in someone else’s repository.

A gossip network reaching consensus — the primitive underneath most of my work.

Consensus is a boring word for something that matters.

Ntege Daniel Marvin

Open to backend, platform and open-source engineering work.

I work on the unglamorous half of software: the APIs, schemas, queues and consensus plumbing that decide whether a product can be trusted at scale. Day to day that means TypeScript and Node on the surface, PostgreSQL and Prisma underneath, and Hedera’s consensus service when a record has to outlive the company that wrote it.

Most of my output is open source, and most of it is maintenance rather than launches. I help maintain the Python and Swift ledger SDKs for Hiero — the Linux Foundation project underpinning Hedera and compatible networks — and the conformance runner that holds every Hiero SDK to the same test suite. I also maintain ClyCites, a market intelligence platform for Ugandan farmer cooperatives that started as a university project and did not stop.

I studied Software Engineering at Bugema University and work at Open Elements across Java and TypeScript services. Most of that has been OES, their S3-compatible object storage service — proving it against the workloads a real application throws at object storage: multipart uploads, presigned URLs, versioning and ranged reads, with no fixtures and nothing mocked.

The ledger

Every merged pull request I have authored into a repository I do not own, grouped by the organisation that received it. The numbers come straight from the GitHub API — you can run the query yourself.

Path

Dates are taken from the first and last merged pull request in each organisation, so they track shipped work rather than contract dates.

  1. April 2025 — present

    Software Engineer

    Open Elements

Building and maintaining platform services across Java and TypeScript — object storage, event ingestion and the systems the business runs on.

    • Proved out OES, the S3-compatible object storage service, against real consumer workloads — multipart uploads, presigned URLs, versioning, object versions and ranged reads
    • Built a Spring-based GitHub webhook service for event-driven automation
    • Shipped the internal finance platform, server and frontend
  2. February 2026 — present

    SDK Maintainer and Contributor

    Hiero — LF Decentralized Trust

Maintaining and extending the multi-language ledger SDKs behind Hiero, the Linux Foundation project underpinning Hedera and compatible networks.

    • Maintain and extend the Python and Swift SDKs for on-ledger assets and smart contracts
    • Work on the Technology Compatibility Kit runner that holds every SDK to one conformance suite
    • Built contributor analytics tracking activity and diversity across the organisation
  3. February 2024 — present

    Founder and Maintainer

    ClyCites

An agricultural market intelligence platform for Ugandan farmer groups, cooperatives and agri-buyers, built and maintained end to end.
